Well, this here be my first artwork done for a cd. This is as many of you may know the most recent edition of the famous "Little Darla Has a Treat for You" compilation put out by the wonderful label Darla. It was an honor to be able to do my first cd cover for such an distinguished label. Not a manjor label by any means, but a very important label none the less keeping good music alive by putting out not only music from their own label, but also distributing some other very good independent labels including e*rock & e*vax's audiodregs. The Little Darla compilations feature recently published and soon to be released songs from these labels. anyway, this was the summer edition, so I wanted to do something summery and music related, thus the band of some mumble characters playing somewhere outside and sunny. I thought this was going to be like a regular cd package with the paper insert, so my idea was to have the insert open up and then you'd see the other half of the band playing in a cool indoor room. As it turned out, this was gonna be a digipak package. i didn't even know what that meant, but as you can see it's one of those paper and plastic tray deals. So, i thought that the other half of the illustration was going to be on the back and so i turned the whole illustration around horizontally so the 2 parts would meet up on the spine of the package. well, it looks like I was wrong, and I had it right in the first place. C'est la vie. I think it came out really nice anyways. It's always nice to have some hard copy of your work being that my work is mostly digital. I hope I get to do more stuff like this. I would really love to do a cover of a good old fashioned vinyl LP. Anyway, if you haven't picked it up already, please do so asap. it's the best deal around with 19 songs by 19 artists for a mere $5.98 + tax. OK?
