IQU bio
IQU (formerly known as ICU) was started by DJ K.O. in his Olympia, WA basement in 1996. Through various reincarnations, IQU now consists of DJ K.O. and Michiko Swiggs and they reside in Seattle, WA. The idea is to produce electronic music as a LIVE performance. Along with the usual electronic music equipment, they play live instruments such as: guitar, theramin, turntables, organs, vintage synths, talk boxes, and whatever else they can get their hands on. In the unique world of IQU, nothing is certain, and everything is permissible. That's the feeling you get upon the first entrance int to their special sonic universe, an inebriating experience filled with merriment and awe, as if all reality suddenly shifted into a vivid and elaborate cartoon. Their first single was "Despite the Smell of Colors Vol. i"; it was followed by their first album "Chotto Matte a Moment!". Since then, they have been touring around the country appearing in various cities with artists such as, Flaming Lips, Cornelius, Mouse on Mars, and Chicks on Speed. Last year saw the release of the EP "Teenage Dream", which featured remixes of IQU by artists they befriended through touring including LOOPER, SONIC BOOM and others. They are currently working with MUMBLEBOY to create visuals for live shows and other upcoming multi media projects.
