Third Eye Foundation - i poo poo on your juju

This is something I came across while I was listening to the samples on
the weekly Other Music maling list. I had been curious about them ever since
I heard their remix on the Pastels remix album "Illuminiati",
but I never knew which album to get as they had a few. The samples were
really great, so I went ahead and got it and was not dissapointed. The store
person explained to me that it's sort of dark and eccentric stuff. That
wasn't my initial impression of them, but maybe that's one way to explain
their sound. I might even use an overused phrase like "hauntingly beautiful".
I guess this is a collection of remixes and collaborations with other artists
of whom the only I know of is Blonde Redhead. They do seem to share a certain
melancholic tone, but this one is not really rock music. There's a lot of
really interesting sound manipulations going on. I don't know if it's done
digitally or not, but some of it sounds like tape manipulations. In another
song, the beats are samples of what sounds like house hold noises which
reminds me of a record called "Les Domestiques" which was actually
made with 2 improv musicians running around an old aprtment making noises.
Anyway, it's really exquisitely produced. Read more
about them here and there
and you'll find out they are actually one person, but I felt like A Foundation
should be adressed as more than just one.
