It's fun to write "End of something" isn't it? What if there were no more Januaries? (Can January be plural?) What if each year a month was taken away until there were no more months left? End of the world, End of Purr?(?) Whatever.I did a hell of a lot of work on the computer since I last updated. It's almost like a par-time job. I've been making something on Flash and without a manual, it's going rather slowly. I've also done some work on this site. A lot of is not visible here because it was just reorganizing its arrangement on the server. It's time consuming and not very rewarding. I also updated sounds of mumble finally. The last 4 things in the menu are new. I added more new links one of which called RICK DOM , I rediscovered recently. It's the page of someone I met while I was in Japan last. It's not much to look at, but its content is really dense. He has a diary entry for every single day of the year. I don't think anyone updates as much. End of entry.1/28 Fallen angels, Beikoku.etc.
I finally saw "Fallen Angels " In a theater. Now I understand what they were saying. There were even some scenes which I didn't remember from the video. Like the part where the deaf character played by Takeshi Kaneshiro takes over an ice cream van and foces a family to eat incredible amount ice cream. It may sound kind of sadistic, but it's actually really funny if you see the movie. A lot of it was really funny. Ah what else. I almost had a new temporaly job which would have been OK even for a non-temporaly job, but I had my mind set on going to Japan and the boss I guess need someone who could stay longer. I was originally planning to Go to Japan in February, but I changed my mind because there were some bands I 've beenwanting to see playing in mid March. Is it a stupid reason? Maybe, but I've always missed things I would've wanted to see when I went to Japan. I got the new issue of Beikoku Ongaku which is one of the best music magazines ever.(in my opinion) It's so dense that I was up untill about 4am reading it and still I didn't finish reading half of it. There was a really cool article about "Yoyo a go go" which is this music festival held in Olympia Washington every few years(although I think this was only the second one). It features bands from labels such as K, Kill Rock Stars, R.B.F.(I don't know what it stands for), Chainsaw, etc. Anyway it sounded like a really cool event. Olympia sounds like a really cool place to be with this community of all these artists. The other thing that I found out was that Beikoku Ongaku and Cardinal Records' releases are going to be distributed by Darla Records in this country. Cardinal Records is most famous for releasing Buffalo Daughter In Japan. I think they won't be distributing BD material, but other things to watch out for are Capsule Giants(which I've already seen at Other Music), Incense, and Rocket or Chiritori. I also found out (on TV) that the TVshow "Susume Denpa Shonen" has ended, but a new show "Susunu Denpa Shonen" has started. They added 1 little mark to the character "me" and changed it to "nu" which really doesen't make any sense, but I guess they needed some kind of a publicity stunt because the hitch-hiking across the American Continent had ended and they didn't have anything new ready yet. I'm realizing I've living my life through the media lately, but all my friends seem busy with work. My life always seem out of sync with everybody else's. Oh I almost forgot. I've added a menu bar at bottom of each page. I hope it makes it easier to get around this site.1/26 Testing Flash!
I had the hardest time trying to get some Flash files to play on my Netscape. First I didn't know of the existence of Aftershock which does all the work for you of writing all the html and after I had Aftershock, my Netscape stopped doing Shockwave. I thought there was something wrong with my version of Shockwave, so I downloaded it again, but it was the same thing. I guess what happened was I ran out of memory because I downloaded a lot of stuff and saved a lot of new files on the hard drive. So I cleaned up my hard drive this morning and I was able to play the Flash movies on my Netscape. They just didn't look as good though. Not as fast and lines weren't very sharp either. You can check them out too although they are just practices. If you know why they are the way they are, let me know.
P.S. I'm sorry if I lost some of you by talking all this computer stuff today.1/24 Fallin' down
You know yesterday, it rained really heavily. I went to meet some friends in the East Village. As I was walking down the steps of the restaurant I was supposed to meet them at, I slipped and fell and hit my back on the stairs. It hurt like hell all night if I moved at all. It seemed when I was coming home, the walk from the subway station to my apartment was 10 times as long. Fortunately after a night of rest, I feel much better and I can get up and walk around with ease.
So I rented "The Mighty Aphrodite" from the local video store. I'd kind of stayed away from Woody Allen films recently not because his films aren't any good, but after I'd heard about what's going on in his personal life, it made me not want to see his films. I rented it because I couldn't find any thing else in the dinky little video store in my neighborhood. Anyway I'm glad I saw it. It was as good as any of his old films. I guess he hasn't lost his touch. I wondered if Mira Sorvino's voice is really like that.1/23 dark day
I woke up at 1:30pm today. I didn't mean to sleep in so late, but it was dark outside and I thought it was still early morning. I've been doing lessons for Flash today. Doing something like that always makes me sleepy, but I'm almost done with the lesson and I should startmaking stuff like tomorrow. I've also been catching up on moviewatching(on video that is). I finally saw "Red" the other night. It was so good. All 3 of the "3 Colors" is really good, but I forgot what "White" was like because I saw it so long ago. I also "Unagi" which won the Cannes film festival I think. The main character is played by the same actor that plays the main character in "Shall We Dance". He's been getting around lately. I thought "Unagi" was really good. A kind of movie that hasn't been made in Japan for a while as far as I know. Not so charming and comical as a lot of Japanese movies tend to be (although I think those movies are good too), but more dark, dead pan and unpredictable. I also saw "The Little Thief" for the second time. That movie too is like that. One thing leads to another and you don't know what's gonna happen next which can't be said for the majority of American films. I'm gonna go see "Fallen Angels" next week. I actually have it on video, but it's a bad copy and I can't make out the subtitles, so I can't understand most of what the people are saying in it. Why am I suddenly talking about movies? I don't know. I'm not a movie buff like some people are. I guess I finally have the time to watch movies. I also have been getting a alot of wrong phone calls. More than half of calls I get are wrong. Some of them hang up right away. I don't know if it's a prank call or not.1/21 Yet some more new stuff & happenings
I haven't gone to sleep since the last entry, but technically it's the 1/21 now. I was playing around with gif animation again and I accidentally erased like 11MB worth of file! It was like all the T-shirt designs and a lot of other stuff which I can never recover now. So I was blue for a while, but I kept on working and I made 2 things which aren't big deal, but I was pretty happy with them. You can see them here. The title is actually a table made up of 4 parts. 1 of which is a animated gif. I didn't think it would come all straight and everything, but it did. Now I need to get my hands on the new Director and Flash. Does anyone have a copy I can borrow?1/20 Renewal Daily?
With so much extra time on my hands, I'd been doing a lot of organizing around my apartment and also my computer. Cleaning up the desktop and links and so on. I've renewed my links page. I deleted some dead links and added some cool new ones. You might start to notice what kind of links I like. I think the most important thing is how cute the top page is. The content is secondary, but usually the content is pretty interesting too. I'm going to change other pages too. If you have any suggestions, let me know.1/19 Classrooms, Tables, etc.
I'd been having dreams that take place in classrooms often lately. They are most similar to my elementary school classrooms and people in them are all my friends from past and present mixed together. A lot of them I've lost contact. Some of them change ethnicity sometimes, but I can tell it's that person somehow. I wonder what all this means. If any of you know about dream analysis, let me know.
I'd finally figure out how to make tables. Not the furniture kind, but in html. You can see the result of it on the top page. If you are one of those people who come straight to this page, you might have missed it. I liked the old page, but I wanted something more simple. It still isn't perfect, but it's a lot better than when I first started.1/17 What can I say?
The thing about me making 300 dolls isn't happening anymore. I guess there was miscommunication between me and the store people. Anyway they bought some dolls and are going to show them to whoever that might want to sell them, so all isn't lost. I took the remainder of the dolls to Airmarket and they are all on display in their front window. Was yesterday wicked cold or was it just me? I ended up walking around outside for 3-4 hours and I think I caught a cold. I feel better today, but I'm comtemplating whether or not to go out today. There are somethings I have to do, but I don't have to do them today. I feel like a wimp after yesterday.1/12 ONE HUNDRED!
I'm up to 100! 99 to be exact, but I'm going to make more today, so I'll have more than a 100 later today. I thought I'd only made about 70 or 80 yesterday. Yesterday I hung out with Paul, Gar, Eric and Rob. We went to the Museum of Moving Images which I knew was around here, but I didn't know it was so close to my apartment. It was fun, but because of it I could only make 6 dolls yesyterday and so I thought it set me back a little and I didn't look forward to making up for it. Today I woke up early (probably because I gave up early the last night) and started counting the dolls because I wasn't sure how many there were and I wanted to set a new quota. I had 93. I couldn't believe it and the new quota was down to almost 10 a day, so if I do a little extra I can lower it even more. I'd made 6 more between then and now, so now I have 99. Sorry to have written on and on about this. It probably isn't very interesting especially if you just happened to have wandered on to this page for the first time.1/9 An apology
I have to apologize to my faithful "days of mumble" readers. I wrote an entry on 12/29, but I uploaded it in a wrong place, so that it couldn't be read. I realised this as I was uploading yesterday's entry. It's nothing important, but if you don't want to miss any of "days of mumble", you may want to check it out. I found out today the Japanese TV show "Susume Denpa Shonen" has ended. I don't understand why? Just as it was going so well. I'm up to 57 dolls if my calculations is correct. It's getting to be so many. It's a hassle to count them by hand. But I'm getting a bit sick of it today, so I'm procrastinating here. I don't know how I'm going to make about 240 more. Anyone want to help?1/8 Doesen't feel like it.
Starting the new year on a bummer? Don't worry. I'm not bummed out. It's just that it doesen't feel like the year has changed yet. Every year something makes me think Oh it's the new year, but I've been so busy, I think it just passed me by. It feels more like 1997 part 2 or the end of the year is still yet to come. Anyway my old job has ended and my new one has me overwhelmed. I don't know why I get so tired from making dolls maybe because about 80 % of the work is mindless hand work. It's so time consuming that I really have no time for anything else. No time for socializing or going shopping or anything. I'm up to 44 now and I'm trying to make 12 a day because the minimum number is up to 11 now. I think if I make a little extra now, it'll be easier later. Later.
